boggling The I.V.S.A has something like 500 members worldwide, most of 'em from the States, 100 of whom are gathered from around the globe for this get together, as the title suggests looks at Visual Arts in a Sociological setting...in the context of this conference in a predominatly Educational one.
Which as it turns out results in what seems like every second presentation being...

I doubt you've seen this (you may have been subjected to it when you visited us last), but in the US we've got this guy named Matthew Lesko on TV selling a book full of hints how to extract money from the gov't. He's nuts. He runs around annoying everyone while wearing a suit appliqued with question marks. That's what this reminded me of. >_

Did I ever tell you about my moment of mania last year when I saw an academic call for papers from a literary critic who was putting together a volume analysing Harry Potter fanfiction? I'm not joking. I submitted an abstract that proposed to analyse the gender stereotypes of both readers and writers of slash fiction.

Aaaaaand, submitted it with my real name and university affiliation.

It got rejected, of course, though they nicely asked me, after seeing my CV, if I'd be willing to write about RUSSIAN fanfiction! I'm like... no. No no no. So, in sum, I'm pretty sure now that the volume was supposed to be for G-rated faculty fics or something, and I went and advertised my REAL SELF as a slash reader. Yep. Top that one, I dare ya. ;-)
